Members, users and passwords

Most of the site is open to the world, pages and posts can be viewed by anybody with internet access and will show up in search engines like ‘Google’. So be careful what you post.

Some pages are protected with a password, posts can be protected too and will be if they are on subjects which should not be broadcast on the web. See advanced guide to posting.

Members‘ i.e. people we know and who have talked with us can use the generic password to view the protected pages and posts.

To comment on posts people need to register. They then get a user-name and their own private password which is different from the generic ‘members’ password.

Registered users still need to use the members password to access protected pages and posts.

When users first register they are ‘subscribers’ which means they can only comment on existing posts NOT add new posts.

Once we know people I will upgrade them to ‘contributor‘ so that they can add new posts as well.

Core members of Prospect will be upgraded to ‘editor‘ when they are ready tech-wise. This restriction is because ‘editors’ can change and delete lots of things and they need to know what they are doing.
