Additional help in using this and other Wordpress based websites.
If you have been used to Forums or Groups sites, such as Google or Yahoo you may find a Wordpress site like this one a bit strange, especially as the places where you can add your own contributions are integrated with the rest of the site.
Wordpress uses ‘categories‘ instead of ‘topics’ to sort out the posts. These are more powerful than the rigid structures of a ‘forum‘ and when set up can be more intuitive. For example a post can belong to several categories at once and can be moved from one category to another. Comments however are always locked to their ‘parent’ post.
Users cannot edit categories or add new ones unless they are ‘editors’. If you think a new category or ‘topic‘ is needed please request one by emailing Richard
Security: only Administrators or Editors can put a password on a post so if you want to create a new post that is private to members only please don’t publish it. Instead save it as a draft and tell me by email I can then publish it protected with the members password. Members can however comment on protected posts and these comments will be protected along with the parent post.
